Recordings Available | Documenting the Holocaust: Testimonies as Historical Evidence

By Eliana Swerdlow - June 22, 2026

Recordings from the international conference Documenting the Holocaust: Testimonies as Historical Evidence, held on June 15-17 and organized by the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute, are now available on YouTube.

The aim of the conference was to discuss testimonies as evidence in historical research by considering their potential and limitations, contexts of their creation, and subsequent use in science, education, and remembrance.

The conference focused on the Collection of Holocaust Survivors' Testimonies held at the Jewish Historical Institute, one of the earliest initiatives aimed at discovering and documenting the experiences of people who lived through the Holocaust. The collection has since become one among many similar collections created by institutions engaged in recording Survivors' testimonies and recollections.
