YIVO/Carnegie Hall Hosts Online Performance of Volume 2 of Songs from Testimonies

By Christy Bailey-Tomecek - April 15, 2021

The Yiddish Scientific Research Center (YIVO) in partnership with Yale's Fortunoff Video Archive and Carnegie Hall invite the public to an online performance of songs from the second volume of the Archive's recording Cry, My Heart, Cry: Songs from Testimonies in the Fortunoff Video Archive, Volume Two.

The concert is part of Carnegie Hall's concert series Voices of Hope: Artists in Times of Oppression

The latest volume contains thirteen songs in three languages drawn from testimonies in the Archive. The widely diverse compositions presented on the album form a multidimensional image of the lives of Holocaust survivors, the multiple identities they carried as Jews by faith and roots, and as European citizens. Join us to hear this album performed and discussed by the Zisl Slepovitch Ensemble & Sasha Lurje.

When: Wednesday, April 28, 1:00 PM EST
